Moonraker

Moonraker

Roger Moore stars in his fourth Bond film where Bond enters the outer space. 1979. Director: Lewis Gilbert.

After a high speed fall from an airplane and frighting the dangerous Jaws (Richard Kiel) in the air, Bond (Roger Moore) starts investigating in a new case. This time the suspect is a very rich and prestigious man named Hugo Drax (Michael Lonsdale).

One of the Drax Moonraker's has been hijacked and now it has disappeared. Bond travel to southern California where the factory and laboratory is located. It doesn't take long before one of Drax's henchmen is trying to assassinate Bond.

Bond meet doctor Holly Goodhead (Lois Chiles) who isn't fond of Bond teasing her for her name. In California, Bond finds blueprints for a glass vial in Venice. He meet Holly in Venice who later reveal herself as a CIA agent.

Bond finds out that Drax is making a very dangerous poison which humans die of, but animals survive without problems. In Rio, Jaws and Bond meet again and the time is running out for Bond and Holly if they are going to stop Drax from making his evil plans come true.

Until they go up to space, this is a great Bond film. Maybe there's a bit too much humour, but still good. Sadly, it's just silly when they shoot with laser guns and such. Sci-fi was very hot at the time, so I can understand why they did this, but sometimes it's just silly.

The comeback of Jaws feels a bit too much too. It's just like joke, and not too fun unfortunately. I think that this film would have been better without Jaws. It would have been good to skip some jokes too. To make is more serious. But it's still good.
