Tom Hanks plays the running Forrest Gump. Director: Robert Zemeckis. 1994. "Life is like a box of chocolate, you never know what you're gonna get."
Forrest Gump (Tom Hanks) is sitting at a bus stop in a small town and starts telling a lady next to him about his life. It begins when he was just a little boy (young Forrest: Michael Conner Humphreys). He lived in a big house in Alabama with his mother. Unfortunatly at the time, he had problems with his legs so he has to wear things to be able to walk.
He becomes friend with Jenny (young: Hanna R Hall, adult: Robin Wright Penn), his only friend then. Some boys throw stones at him and chases him on their bikes one day. Poor Forrest tries too run but his legs just can't do it, at first. "Run Forrest, run!", Jenny shouts. And that's what Forrest does. He starts running like no other, running away from the chasing boys and back to his house.
From then, he never had a trouble with running. He even ran so good that he made the way to be a star in the college football team. He and Jenny meets from time to time, but they do go seperate ways. Forrest graduates from college, joins the army, becomes a ping-pong star in China and makes success in the schrimp business. Jenny is troubled. She travels around, taking drugs, drinking, trying to commit suicide and lives as a hippie along with others.
But though they're apart so often, they still meet from time to time, and Forrest sees her as the true love of his life. She's the one. His story is full of historic happenings and it's both sad and humoristic. A splended film filled with joy and kindness. A masterpiece and a must-see movie.
I just love this picture. Tom Hanks is great as the ,in his own way, smart Forrest who's allways kind and warm. No wonder why he recieved an Academy Award for this role. Marvelous! It's allso fun to see how they makes it look 100 % realistic when Forrest meets John F Kennedy, John Lennon, Richard Nixon and lots of other famous people.
"Stupid is as stupid does". Forrest says the most smart things.
