Harry Potter and the Philosopher's stone

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's stone

The first of the Harry Potter movies, based on JK Rowling's wonderful books about the young wizard at Hogwarts. 2001. Director: Chris Columbus.
Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) became an orphan when he was just one year old. Since then, he's been living with his horrible aunt Petunia (Fiona Shaw) who always hated her sister, Lily who was Harry's mother, because she married a wizard and went from being a muggler to a witch.
When Harry turns eleven, one stormy night at an distant island where he and his aunt and family moved when owls started to surround their house and drop letters from the magic school Hogwarts. Then, the half-giant Hagrid (Robbie Coltrane) comes to the island. Petunia and her fat husband Vernon (Richard Griffiths) thought that they wouldn't be found at the island, but now someone has.
Hagrid tells Harry that he's a wizard. "I'm a ...what?", Harry says, very surprised. When Hagrid finally gives Harry a letter, a letter just like the ones that all of the owls sent Harry, the young boy finds out that since he was born, he was going to be studying at Hogwarts, school of witchcraft and wizardry.
Together with all the new pupils, Harry starts his first year at Hogwarts. It's a whole new world for him, who've never heard of real magic or such before. He becomes friends with the read haired Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint) and the super intelligent Hermione Granger (Emma Watson). But it's not as fun and peaceful as Harry first thought at the school. Terrible things is starting to happen and Harry and his new friends are going to need all of their courage to stop it. But will they make it?
This is a great picture, it really is. When I first saw it, at the age of six or so, I was terrified, but now I just think that it's a marvelous movie. The actors are good, the effects are good still, everything is good!
You really start believing in magic when you see this, and even thou it happens horrible things at the school, I would love to study there. At Hogwarts. I'm a little afraid of heights, but wouldn't it be fun to ride on a broomstick anyway? Play quidditch and experience the speed of Harry's Nimbus 2000. A wonderful movie.
